The purpose of this step in the process is to evaluate certain things that we refer to as wants and needs. If a customer comes into Arrow and wants to buy an F-150 pickup truck it is our job as salesmen to narrow down which F-150 is right for them. Questions will be asked such as interior and exterior preferences, whether or not there is a trade to be processed, and also budget. It is essential to land the customer on the right vehicle the first time, that is why a thorough customer interview is required. Corey White The Life of a Car Salesman 1/13/18 The Meet and Greet The meet and greet is the most important part of the car selling process, coincidently it is also the first. Just like meeting your high school girlfriend’s father for the first time, the meet and greet is meant to be strong, confident, and unobtrusive. The old expression goes that you do not get a second chance at making a first impression. This expression is of the upmost importance for a car salesman as a botched meet and greet can immediately unravel a potential car deal. There are times when a meet and greet is doomed from the get go. Car salesmen are trained to overcome the majority of objections you will encounter during the meet and greet, but alas there are times when the potential customer is determined to not give you the time of day. Corey White The Life of a Car Salesman 1/12/18 My name is Corey White and I work at Arrow, a Ford dealership here in Abilene, Texas. Without spending too much time on my life before working at Arrow, I will go over the basics of how we got to this point. I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in History from McMurry University, a local university that is also here in Abilene. I met a girl towards the end of my collegiate career and she followed me to my next location upon graduation, Texas State, a university in San Marcos, Texas. I attended Graduate school in San Marcos, with the hopes of getting my Master’s degree in History and going on to become a professor. Truth be told I did not care for Graduate school, nor did I particularly like the politics of academia. Therefore, I made my way back here to Abilene to begin my new life as a full-fledged adult. By this time, I was married to a beautiful woman, that brought with her a brilliant little four-year-old boy that I too
